Best Practice- 1

The institution has taken up the program ‘Feel the warmth of a senior community’ as a best practice since 2021 academic year onwards to visit an old age home called “Thapovana Vridhashram” in Gottipalli village near Narasannapeta.

1. Title of the practice:     Feel the warmth of a senior community

2. Objectives:

  • To make the students aware of their responsibility towards the age-old elders.
  • To develop the idea of being responsible, sharing and caring.
  • To have satisfaction in serving the elderly.
  • To make the students as responsible citizens through serving and caring with compassion, love, and kindness towards the aged parents.

3. The Context:

The youth of the present generation are to be motivated to have care and concern towards there elders and old people as this is the highest degree of credit. The students at government degree college Narasannapeta of all programs involve in this activity by going to old age home to spending their time with the old deprived and neglected. The students involve in social service by their own interest.  The faculty of the college encourage them by supporting them with their advice and finance, in return the student ultimately transforms to a caring, concern, human values and moreover a responsible citizen of this nation.

4. The Practice:

The college as whole take part in this activity with interest and enthusiasm. The women empowerment cell of GDC Narasannapeta plays a major role in bringing up this program and motivating the students. The WEC also provides transport for the students to reach the old age home. The contribute for lunch, breakfast, snacks, etc. above all they spend their time in listening to their stories and their experiences, not only that they also find out their health issues and help them.  By developing this tempo in the students, the dream of the college to bring holistic development in the students is fulfilled.

The students also learned the importance of being good human and maintaining good human relations.   They are giving their helping hand towards old and deprived old people in the society.

5. Evidence of success:

In addition to Academics which give employment for their livelihood, but this co-curricular activity makes them good human being’s in making the society a responsible to the neglected elders at home and in the society.  The earlier batch students also have taken up this practice and we observe the satisfaction and contentedness among the students.

  • This extracurricular activity, being empathetic in nature, after observing the present condition, situation of the aged the lostness, loneliness neglected Ness on keen observation made the students so emotional to annihilate the thought of ‘oldage-homes’ in their future.
  • Our students turn to be good human being, social responsible, kind in heart , understanding and in all the best citizen.
  • Overall, our intuition generates the students who make the society and nation a caring and responsible to the elders and the aged parents.

6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

Our college government degree college Narasannapeta encounters a problem of dropout rate as most of the women students get married during the course period. The women empowerment cell is making all attempts to stop the dropout rate by organizing different events like conducting awareness programs, inviting eminent personalities and giving them lectures, explaining about her health issues etc. the college also motivates the students about how important to be financially independent by acquiring education and employment.

 

BEST PRACTICE-2

1.TITLE:                                            Care for the tree of life

Distribution of the saplings for the public by the students at government degree college Narsannapeta

2.Objectives:

 The practice has been effectively implemented for the public with the following objectives.

  • Environmental awareness
  • Biodiversity conservation
  • Green spaces enhancement
  • Climate change moderation

3.Context:

To create the awareness about changing climatic condition government degree college Narasannapeta took up this noble activity of distributing saplings to the public.

  • The present generation need to understand and take the responsibility of acting rightly at the right time towards environment is the need of the hour.
  • The increasing temperatures made the thought of this activity.
  • The imbalance in the seasons like either floods or excess rain.
  • The reducing of water table which effects the cultivation.
  • In the wake of severe Global warming, planting saplings is not only beneficial to the environment but also like an investment for the future generations.

4. Practice:

All the students od the institution take this extracurricular activity as a best practice. This practice of distributing saplings to public is taken up from the department of botany. The faculty of botany explains to the student as to what type of saplings can be distributed, measures to be taken in carrying to the public for distribution. As all the students come from the agricultural background most of them are interested towards plants nurturing them and giving precautions to the public when they are distributed.

This type of practice helps the student to be responsible for the global climate change. The thought of encouraging others also to be aware of the need of planting trees. Above all they are nurtured to be a environmental responsible care for the plants preventing the cutting of trees in their vicinity.

5. Evidence of success:

The faculty, the NSS two units and the other departments also encourage the students in successful carrying of this instructional best practice.

As they are also from agricultural background the students explain and motivate their family members and there kith and kin also to carry the organic farming for the environmental protection.

6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

Collecting the saplings is the main problem during the season. Most of the students are from poor financial status and effort to buy the number of saplings wen ever required is difficult.

Evidence Of Success:

The friends and families are also motivated towards organic farming.

Protecting environment has become the most important efforts to be taken up.

The students turn to be environmental responsible citizens.
