Introduction

Learning resource centre was established in the year 1981. This department has been functioning since the inception of the college in the year 1981 with a number of 100 books and one post of librarian

        The department gradually developed year by year and at present it arrived to a number of 4000 books. In addition to the text books, Reference books, all competitive books and etc are available in the library, which cater to the need of the students as well as the teaching and non teaching staff numbers.

        We proud to say a good reference books viz. encyclopedia of Britannica, Encyclopedia of Commerce, Encyclopedia sports and games, Oxford junior Encyclopedia and many Dictionaries and various latest computer books are available in the library, which fulfill the need of the needy persons. We try our level best to serve the students and teaching faculty members of the college.

LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE:

The college library has an Advisory committee consisting of the following members.

       The library Advisory committee meets twice in each academic year or as and when necessary. The committee looks into the following activities. Budget allocation is made for the purchase of books on different subjects. The committee identifies authorized book publishers and sellers and approves quotations and placing orders for purchases. The committee plans for library extension activities and it is taking care of the storage and maintenance of books and records.

                    The students of the first, second and third year from all the combinations enroll themselves as members in the library. Issue and return system has been introduced and one or two books at a time is allowed to be taken for a period of 14 days to every student.

                   All the almarahs have been numbered as per the Dewey decimal classification and all arranged accordingly in the almarahs. The librarian strictly adheres the rules and regulations and schedules of issue of books to the students and faculty members

WORKING HOURS:

          The college library works from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on all working days of the college.

LIBRARY AUTOMATION:

          All the records of the library are computerized. We are using SOUL software developed by INFLIBNET. We are using all operations in the library as per SOUL. We are also maintaining manual register for issues and returns. Recently, we updated with SOUL 3.0.5 latest version of SOUL software.

ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED:

56^th National Library Week celebrated during the period of    14^th – 20th November 2023. We conducted Book exhibition, G.K/Quiz, Essay writing , Elocution , Map pointing  to the students.

FUTURE PLANS:

1.The imbalances in the collection of certain subjects will be rectified as soon as budget is released by the government.

2.The facilities in the reading room will be improved by adding new seats with more accommodation. We are planning to arrange separate Reading room. We are planning to subscribe more journals.

3.We are planning to acquire latest collections on all subjects and competitive books.

4.Plans will be ready for Inter library loan facilities with more colleges for the benefit of staff and students to expose them to variety of news materials.
